Pregnancy Loss

Have you or a loved one experienced a miscarriage? You are not alone. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) estimates that as many as 26% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. Bella has information and support as you work through your grieving process. Whether you have just been given the diagnosis of a pregnancy loss and want to connect with a nurse regarding the use of a miscarriage kit or need resources to help you process your grief, we are here for you.

We want to express how sorry we are you are experiencing this and want to offer you comfort. Every individual uniquely processes grief; there is no right or wrong way to process this. People far too often minimize pregnancy loss and do not understand its impact on the mother and her significant others. Your thoughts and feelings are valid and should be empathized with. How you process this may change throughout the months and years that go by, and that is perfectly normal.

Allow yourself to connect and grieve how you see fit. Choose one of the following to learn more:

One of our patients shared her miscarriage story with us. In honor of the daughter she lost and to encourage you, we have included a few of her thoughts regarding her experience:

“I am at peace now; however, I want to be an advocate for women who may be facing a loss to obtain informed care. It is important women have options to be medically monitored and offered miscarriage kits. Circumstances of loss are different for each person, but women should not be told that it is just like a heavy period. I would never recommend doing it alone and would suggest having a support person available to assist you throughout the process. “

The patient spoke of connecting with other women who have had miscarriages, sharing their experiences, and encouraging particularly the medical community to offer more concrete measures to women who are facing a miscarriage such as offering kits, giving specific information on what to expect during a miscarriage, and to give grief support resources.

Elizabeth Ministries and Still Birth Day are two organizations and websites that you may find helpful too.
